The plastic injection moulding process consists of feeding plastic granules into an injection moulding machine through a hopper.
The polymer granules are heated in a barrel and the molten plastic injected into a mould tool that has been design and manufactured to produce the finished part.
After the mould tool has been cooled to the required temperature the tool is opened and the part extracted often using a robot to minimise the labour requirement.
Secondary operations to compliment the injection moulded parts are then performed to provide a cosmetically complete product including welding, assembly and printing.
